IIRC Stuttgart will be part of phase 2, therefore I suggest adding the "Stuttgarter Fernsehturm" broadcast tower, which is an iconic landmark that can be seen from the airport. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fernsehturm_Stuttgart
There were also several US military installations in Stuttgart during the cold war, with military training grounds close to the town of Böblingen (Camp Panzer Kaserne). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuttgart (see chapter "US military in Stuttgart")

I would really like to see Flyvestation Værløse (EKVL) included (near copenhagen).

It is the only Danish airbase within the detailed boundaries of the map, the lack of which would break immersion.

This addition would make Danish DCS players very happy.

For me, this is the most important thing you need to fix.

Otherwise, thanks for this great map.

100% agree! ☝️

Revised airbase textures and ground clutter are whats most important for me.

If I had one more wish, no more air racing fields and cones for phase 2 and 3 please. 🙏

Ideally it would be best to have them hidden before 1991 in the same way the night lighting works on the Normandy map.

That particular style of air racing was developed not before 2003 => Wikipedia. So, it doesn't fit at all to a Cold War scenario.

And furthermore, air racing at all was never, and still isn't, popular in Germany. So, removing all of those racing circuits before 2003 should be the correct setting. And after 2003, it shouldn't pop up in such many places. Actually just one, because it is completely related to Red Bull Air Racing.

Another point, that does not fit to Germany, are the motorways which are lighted at night. There was only one country in western europe were this would be realistic for all motoways. And that is Belgium. In Germany, as far as I can remember, it was applied just around Cologne until the early 2000's.

Also, there are many roads visible that were build after 1990, in particular in the former GDR , but also in the western part. That is bit of an immersion break for me personally. However, thats just incorrect for those who know about it. And, I guess, its hard to avoid, when using available digital geographical data. It would be great if that could be corrected, but I fully understand that this wish is actually unrealistic.

Have to agree - I'd much rather Ugra add the racing pylons to the static objects (though there is one already) and let mission editors decide whether to have them or not. I'd say the same for balloons.

The sort of thing I love. I know the Saal site is currently missing, as is the S-125 site adjacent to it. There is a completely fictional tank range nearby though... Though we really need ED to implement that P-37 and PRV-11 that have both been in the files for over 12 years now and to implement the trailer mounted ST-68U as an EWR.

But these sites should be in a more-or-less empty state, so we can place functional radars on them (these sites IRL were quite empty, with radars just sat on small artificial hills and concrete pads).

From what I've seen so far, many EWR sites currently implemented in Germany feature tall towers with a small radome on top, I'm not entirely sure what it's supposed to be, but it doesn't look anything like the EWRs present in either the Cold War nor modern day (the linked post also shows that this EWR station is in the wrong place).

The other, more pressing thing though is by making towers with radomes, Ugra is excluding the possibility to put functional radars there. Ideally they'd include a structure with a flat top and then a radome static object. Allowing them to be used as functional units, while looking the part.

Blue water container ships on the Rhine...if my CVN isn't going to squeeze under those bridges at high water they can't go there either!  🙃

Kidding aside, I have to agree with focusing on airfields.  I don't know enough to know what I don't know or even be particularly confident about things I do so I'll leave most of that to the people who are much smarter than me.

What I do is restrict operations to the south even if I'm drawn to water because the airfields seem to be missing.  Plenty of civil airfields I use in a pinch, though, and East Germany has been kind enough to let me fly NATO planes from their bases now and then.  Very reasonable of them.

Reduce the Killer High Grass by at least 80%, it's driving me nuts to say the least, should not be difficult to reduce the model file in speedtree and implement it into the scenery file.

And please, make the Airbases more accurate before even thinkin' bout Phase 2 or 3, at least the ground tiles and road map, up to the gates of all bases. Google maps, Bing maps will help you alot.

Havin satellite images like the Afghanistan map remains a dream...

Thanks...

Have to agree with @Ghostrida9 - the accuracy of airbases is currently my biggest turn off:

  • Many NATO airbases have the wrong types of hardened shelter and the USAFE shelter type (though a very similar type can be seen at some RAFG airbases coming in later phases) that is actually correct is the wrong shape. There's a few threads on these such as here and here
  • There are QRA facilities used to house alert aircraft that are instead office blocks.
  • Some aerodromes seem to mostly consist of placeholder objects (at least, I hope they're placeholder - the primary example for me is Gütersloh)
  • There are aerodromes that are wildly inaccurate - Bienenfarm being the primary example (which has no paved surfaces at all IRL) - EDIT: Wrong!!! Thanks Bremspropeller.
  • Unfortunately Germany carries on the trend of assigning ammunition warehouses to seemingly random buildings, instead of in actual shelter objects that depict real weapon storage areas. In some cases these are actually modelled in-game, which makes it somewhat confusing as to why they haven't been assigned as ammunition warehouses.
  • The prevalent, dug-up, mud-like texture surrounding many paved surfaces looks inaccurate, to the point that, IMO it almost makes Germany look like a different biome - in the vast majority of cases it's grass right up to paved surfaces.

I was surprised as well the other day, when I mindlessly scrolled by the airfield on the map. The arrangement of the hangars has been reversed/mirrored as well - it's looking convincing now. 😀

The information is out there, and some of it has been posted here, for accurate locations for military sites in the GDR and West Germany. I just want accurate locations for these installations. If it was a SAM site, at a minimum have a clear space for players to put the correct units. If you use a generic template for the revetments layout, I can live with that too. Some sites changed layout and assigned unit over time, but I think we can adapt if necessary. If it's an army base/naval base/air force base, try to represent it as much as possible. For EWR sites, a generic template is something I think we can live with too, but if possible leave spaces for user placed EW units at these sites to make them targets that can effect missions and campaigns. Also, make sure the assigned military units can use the base. An example on the current phase is Briest, where MI-8s were stationed but almost none of the parking spaces can accommodate them. Lastly, please make sure the water depth in ports is able to accommodate the correct naval ships.

Hi
We are currently actively working on Cold War Germany phase 2 and decided to find out your wishes in order to find original objects/locations that we can additionally include in the list and without which it is impossible to release phase 2.
Your wishes for phase 1 were very valuable, hints from local residents, guys who served in the service were very informative. Based on them, we adjusted the list: airfields, hangar types and much more were added.
The goal of this topic: to find objects that are most important for the map: they played a significant role in the Cold War, it can be a landmark for navigation (antennas, towers, etc.), quarries without which the territory does not look like itself, a warehouse or a base. Or maybe some landmark without which the city loses its appearance? The idea with the city of Mannheim and “Kalimandscharo” seemed interesting to us.
If you previously wrote wishes, you can duplicate the link to the topic.
Let me remind you that we are looking at the entire Wishlist section, and in this topic we want to collect what you think is necessary to release Phase 2, and based on the responses and likes we will determine what to do first.

Oh I have these murals from Bitburg AB. I assume these on the barracks behind the ATC Tower? Kind of s small detail but I think you could use them.
