And yeah, I'll pop off whenever I like. Thanks, Gramps!!

Dear Junior,

You are welcome.

I appreciate people who “pop off” with truthful information that is useful to make the user experience better. I look forward to reading your well-researched contributions here in the future.

Sincerely,

Your Daddy

Gents,

Two quick questions, after having been stumped by the manual/ topic searches:

1. Is "breaking the wire" truly all one has to do to invoke water injection? There are two key bindings in the seetings, one for water injection enable and one for water injection disable. Not really what one would expect if all one has to do is firewall it-

2. I have bound a key to bring up the COMMS menu, but nothing happens when I use it. The COMMS menu does not show in the HUD, and the mic button on the throttle does not move. My radios are ON. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help-

in order to use comms you have to use the mike key button if you have realistic radios on. I havent looked at it yet, but you would have 2 key types to map -  one of them being for VOIP, and you only have two radios to work with. Make sure your radios are on so when you press your key,  the menu will come up.

breaking the wire, the accelerator presses a button that activates the water, but the pilot without breaking the wire could press that button, for example in the real manual one of the water injection checks was done by pressing that button with a pencil, I suppose that is the reason that key exists, to be able to correctly perform the ground check of the water injection system.

Mike key doesn't work. You have to bind the regular comms menu button (learned that the hard way. I have om realistic coms.

Sadly there's no standardisation across modules.

Some require radio or com 1 button etc. Others require you to use the default communication button even with realistic coms. You simply have to work it out yourself on module to module basis.

I went away for my Birthday for a week. When I came back and checked in I found threads on the Corsair and wondered what was going on. Nice surprise to come home to, another decent prop for the collection 🙂.

First thing for me was the sound. I don’t think it’s anywhere near as grunty or as loud as it should be? I’ve seen these fire up, taxi and fly at airshows and I remember them being pretty noisy buggers. Put this up with a Bearcat and they rumble.

Maybe a bit of axis tuning’s needed as it’s a bit twitchy on the Warthog. It ‘feels’ something like a lighter Jug to me. I saw someone bring one in and roll out on two wheels for miles so I know it can be landed properly. Haven’t touched the weapons yet. Agree with whoever it was that said about the feel for speed being a bit off somehow and we need more binding control, axis bindings etc. Pulling up the different cockpit lights takes an age.

EA so should improve hopefully. So good to have another prop though, thanks to all involved and please, carry on like that. Maybe a surprise Typhoon, a Tempest? Bearcat, Wildcat or something? 😛

Happy Birthday Hoss, mine was Wednesday, nice little surprise eh. More props, always a good thing.

Cheers Mag3 🙂.

Took mine on a longer range recon/strike flight last night.  Full set of rockets and a centre tank.

After a couple of screw ups on take off from the carrier, finally got into a nice cruise at 10k, looking for a convoy.  Never found it, so strafed some oil tanks on the way home.

Found an interesting learning point.  I was using the ext tank for the outbound leg and also during the strafing.  Finished the strafing runs at low altitude, and THEN the fuel ran out.  By the time I'd switched tanks I was even lower, slow and in a bad state of trim.  Promptly followed by a swim.

My learning being that if you're low, using a tank that you know has fuel in it seems very prudent.

Enjoyable flight.  Requires a good bit of management to balance the trim, speeds, cooling.  Some might have found it a bit dull as there were no other aircraft around, but I liked the challenge of trying to recreate what is more likely to be a realistic mission setting.

Starting the Corsair conversion; I find some differences between the flight model of the Corsair with the FASA modification or with that of Milviz (Blackbird). Much easier to take off and land with the M3.

No, the FASA modification was for the A2A Corsair on FSX (a few years ago), and Milviz's Corsair is for P3D and MSFS

ok thank,  Milviz' I bought it for flight simulation with the various aircraft carriers...
