I use the technicolor-3 color grading (in DCS settings). I think that looks a bit nicer in my HP V2 headset, give it a try.

I do think/hope they will update the villages. I tried it in the A-10 so did not see much of the smaller villages
-
Well, I tried it yesterday, and it actually looks and feels like Afghanistan. I think they did a great job. I have been to Afghanistan 4 times flying Dutch Chinooks and flying in VR instantly made me check that I drink enough water

Kandahar Airfield Unit/Squadron dispositions
Pumba298 replied to Gambit21's topic in DCS: Afghanistan
I flew Dutch Chinooks out of KAF and for some special operations out of Tarin Kowt (Camp Holland) and one time out of Bastion. At KAF in 2008 our 3 Chinooks were parked on the big helo ramp, at the NE corner of the ramp, near the center of KAF. Right behind us were the CSAR USAF UH-60's and next to us the British helicopters, I believe only Chinooks, and sometimes an Apache or Lynx. Our F-16's were parked at the other side of the field and our Apaches flew out of Tarin Kowt. I was at KAF in the autumn of '05, from sept '07 till march '08 and during the summers of '09 and '10. I will go and look up some pictures, I might be able to dig up some more. -
Also just over the border near Spin Boldak, I've heard of ops going there..

My flying and thus infolvement with Dutch Chinook airforce operations ended in mid 2011 so my knowledge might be outdated. But miniguns being useless without A/C power was the consensus on our squadron back then. But we went looking for new doorguns in '05 so only a few years after Robert's Ridge.

The smaller M60 (and FN Mag, etc.) are most used on the ramp as they allow for easier removal when on a FOB or LZ when doing Internal Loads. For vehicles it's obvious, but also with troops a big gun is more of an obstacle that might increase the time on the ground. The doorguns are, depending on the mission, bigger guns. The Brits used miniguns, the Dutch use .50. Miniguns fire faster, but have lower penetration value, and they work of the A/C Generator, so in case of a crash, your first line of defence is useless.

Everything has been sold.

Slight kick. Make me an offer for the Virpil stick as I’m not sure about the right price.

Are these still available? I sent an email but I haven't heard anything.

Some stuff I have for sale to clean the closet: First up is a Thrustmaster A-10c Warthog full hotas set. SOLD Second up is a Thrustmaster Cougar F-16c Hotas. The set consists of 3 parts: F-16c stick. All the buttons are working perfectly. There is some slight play on the axis but that is to be expected after 20 years. But a Force sensing upgrade would make it shine! If you want I can delivers 4 strain gauges and electronics to make a force sensing stick out of it. I was going to do that but I have too many plans and too little time.. F-16c Throttle. This one needs some work. 2 buttons don't work and the throttle axis, ant elev axis and thumbstick need replacement. All these parts are available on the forum or if you're a bit technical you could do this yourself. Thrustmaster Rudder system. This is a massive single axis rudder made by Thrustmaster. It plugs directly into the Cougar base but I also have a usb adapter to go with it. The price for the full set is € 150,00. Last up is a Virpil Constellation Delta grip. The grip is in perfect condition and had perfect ergonomics and a lot of buttons plus one thrumb stick. The price is 90,00 Pictures below.

Hey all, I noticed vipergear.eu is no more. I'm looking to buy a Vipergear VFS. Is there anyone that has one for sale or knows where to get one in the EU? Thanks in advance!

This is a great and very smart idea, well done! I was wondering what code should I upload to the Arduino? Thank you for your great design!

On the D-model you can couple the AFCS to the flight director for auto pilot, but not at tactical levels obviously, this was pretty much only used during instrument flying. Maybe the E-models could with do low level AP their TFR, but know nothing about those, except that they looked awesome I don't know anything about the F models as I was long gone when the Dutch recieved those. Although our Delta's were pretty close to the E models with the custom upgrades such as a full glass cockpit and and advanced self protection system. My memory is a bit hazy as the last time I had anything to do with a Chinook was in late 2011 during my final flight.

This is pretty cool, I flew about 2100 hours on the Dutch Chinooks between 2003 and 2012. Looking forward to this. Combined with an (pretty please) Afghanistan map and my sons can fly the places I flew in RC-South.
