  1. Thank you for creating this sandpit, I've flown the first two Huey and one Apache missions, very good. The Gazelle border patrol was an eye-opener for me, with two tours and nearly 7 years in West Berlin the only section of the wall that I saw was at the Brandenburg Gate. The rest of the time I didn't even think about it.
  2. Had another session with Huey & Gazelle in both HH & FR, all went smoothly with good FPS over many rescues. Tried the medium fog setting which was fine with no FPS impact but turned it off as sightseeing was more fun. A minor thing was twice when en route to a *critical* I passed near another pilot who popped smoke and called 'you are close', both times I used the F1 option to see how far it was to the critical pilot but each time that the list of outstanding csar details was displayed it immediately disappeared and was replaced by the just 'you are close' message. Selecting the F1 option a second time brought up the list of all current csar's again which then remained on screen as per usual.
  3. Had fun in all 3 regions & 'enjoyed' landing in really tight spaces where you really don't want to land. Used Huey, Gazelle & Hip, the only issues were on first flying a machine the FPS bounced low & high for the first minute or so, especially in Berlin, then back to normal, and switching slot from the Gazelle to Huey the VRAM used was around 13GB for a minute or so then dropped to the normal 5GB used for a Huey, so probably just the norm for a busy map? It's a great way to do some sightseeing on a really excellent new map, so thanks for creating this so quickly.
  4. I didn't spot a fix entry for this issue in the patch notes today but can confirm that the login process from Steam to DCS does now work, but you might still get some logs raised. As I only use VR the failure point after the Feb update for me was a login screen with username, password (Both blank), save password checkbox & auto-login checkbox. At that point only clicking the large X to close that panel allowed access to SP but not Multiplayer options. Entering username & password did not allow entry. On the first run after today's patch using VR the login process stopped with a black screen and the music for the Skyhawk playing merrily and had to be killed. Only when running the Play DCS (non-VR) option from Steam did it stop at the Login panel and the username & password can be entered and the boxes checked to auto login which then allows the Play DCS VR option from Steam to login automatically into the main DCS panel. (A long waffle from me but it might perhaps help any affected Steam users who meet the same issue).
  5. Yes, it downloaded about 590MB on one of my PCs that only has helicopters installed - that worked fine and the DNS login from Steam to DCS now passes the authentication details - which stopped working after the Feb update. The other PC, with only planes installed, downloaded about 980MB and failed with 'Missing files downloaded' message, when I clicked on the Retry option it downloaded about 6.5GB and everything appears to be OK on that machine so far.
  6. Glad that you found it. The Toggle VR Zoom in the UI Layer is global, so will be your VR zoom button for all modules, pretty sure all the controls set in the UI Layer, (unless anyone knows different?), are global - such as Pause & Active Pause, so the Options Window is showing all the individual modules you have used that button for a different function, I think that within those individual modules' Control options that button's setting will have a red exclamation mark. I only use VR so don't know if that is merely a warning or would cause any issues, perhaps someone else may be able to confirm?
  7. Hi, the settings for VR Zoom are in the UI Layer in the Controls menu. toggle VR Zoom is the one that I use, there is also a toggle VR Spyglass Zoom option but I find that is like being smacked in the eyes by the object that you are zooming in on.
  8. I have set the Oculus PC Link program to 72Hz and 5408 x 2752, and within DCS to max of 75Hz. This works fine with clear cockpit instruments and high terrain levels/shadows etc. On a 'quiet' map it will range up to 72fps, if there are lots of units/aircraft then it will be solid at 36fps which suits me fine, I haven't made any other headset/toolkit changes.
  9. I have Lenovo i7 Pro laptops with 4090 16 GB GPUs & 32 GB Ram both with Quest Pro headsets which run DCS fine at high (but not max) settings.
  10. Just wanted to mention that your DNS changes didn't work for me, so still waiting for a fix, in case it's thought that the workaround works for everyone.
  11. Thanks for arranging that, I did connect to the Discord but had no idea what options/items to select and vanished down a rabbit hole, I'll try again tomorrow and hopefully work out what to do.
  12. My thanks to the team for a great update. You've packed a ton of great changes in this version, I only had about an hour to blunder around parts of the island, and spent the last 5 minutes hovering around the boats at the mooring buoys to the south-west enjoying the views before perching on the MSB's pad.
  13. A timely comment. I have looked a few times for 'idiot proof' guides on how to set up a server on my own lan specifically to run as a dedicated DCS server, but whilst I'm not a complete idiot, I couldn't make sense of the many 'it's dead easy just open port XXX' etc., rather than how to do that. So if anyone can give me a link or advice on how to do that I have a spare laptop and a spare desktop that I could repurpose. Any & all advice would be greatly appreciated as I did log in to the Fritzl Box router that I was given 3 years ago but had no idea what any of the network settings meant, so I'm a bit averse to fiddling with something that works and screwing it up through lack of knowledge. If it is doable then I'll be able give a straight comparison by repeating the exact same tests that were run as SP. That's if it is dead easy, of course.
  14. Fair enough, and very true
  15. As I was passing by I'll chip in on @MAXsenna reply, The superb OH-6A mod I have is installed in C:\<username>\Saved Games\DCS\Mods\Aircraft\OH-6A The weapons are in the Tech folder, if you don't have one then just create one, as in, C:\<username>\Saved Games\DCS\Mods\Tech\OH-6A_Weaponpack If you look at the mods that you want to install they should already have a similar folder structure.
  16. OK, some results, but not very helpful as the plot thickens, I made 3 runs each against the following vehicle changes. I changed all Jungle Inf trucks from 4320T to ZIL-135, same fps drops on that truck type. Changed all. Zils to Ural-4320, same fps drops when first damage to 4320s. However a possible unhelpful DCS bug? I'd seen the occasional drops in yesterday's replays where it occurred when an Ural-375 was hit, I ignored that as I assumed it was a hit on a unit well away from the ones I was flying close to. This also occurred with these test runs, and on checking through the Score log there was no mention of Ural-375s, so I made the Jungle inf units visible on the F10 map when I set 4320s on all those units, and can confirm that hits reported as Ural-375 were actually against the Ural-4320s as shown by their 'health' bar turning yellow. If nothing else, it probably exonerates the 4320T from crimes against humanity. Time for bed said Zebedee.
  17. @Mistermann Hi, I've never looked at Tracks before but saved one tonight with a hot huey with M60 gunners at the pontoon, Rando settings very low for all units except Rando11 at 100% Flew it in VR as a single mission, excuse the awful takeoff, my excuse is I was thinking of what I was about to do rather than flying , headed towards the nearest enemy units, with low labels on, then flew parallel heading around 300 and the left door gunner damaged Jungle inf 2-4 4320T - fps dropped to single digits, then 1-1 4320T, 11-4 4320T, 3-4 4320T in turn plus the odd inf from those groups. The fps started to recover then dropped as the new 4320Ts were damaged. Back to 36ish fps after passing them all, then I reversed to around 120 and the gunner landed hits on most of the same inf and trucks with no fps drops flying back parallel to those groups. I then watched the replay 3 times, the first two times roughly the same units were present and the same drops/recoveries occurred when the 4320Ts took damage, along with odd inf hit in between. On the 3rd replay the gunner only hit 2-3 inf 2-2 inf, 1-2 inf, 1-3 inf and 1-4 inf no 4320Ts at all, but the same fps drops/recoveries occurred during the run at 300 degrees, when I turned back on a 120 heading the gunner hit some of those inf again, but also made the first damage hits on 1-1, 11-4 and 3-4 4320Ts, there were no fps drops on that run. So, from thinking that the trucks themselves were the main cause of the drops, perhaps it's the groups and the gunners normally go for a juicy truck first rather than a mole in a hole? I've attached the track as I assume it will contain the randomised settings that I used, and as you said that you have not encountered the drops at all perhaps a replay on your machine might show/not show the same results? I didn't take control at any point, the only other difference with the tracks was that my fps on the recording was 33 to 36 fps but on the replays it bounced about from 30.up to 40 and back when the slideshow was not happening, an overhead of running the track perhaps? RANDO11.trk
  18. Hi, you've all covered lots of points in the last few posts and I had made some progress up to last night, going slowly so that I don't jump to daft conclusions, and should be able to do a lot more over the weekend. Just a couple of things to mention so far, setting the StopGaps flag to Off at initialisation certainly helps performance for my laptop 4090 16GB chip, which is probably equivalent to a 4070 card or similar, a Huey takeoff at Andersen is grim and only recovers once well away from there. Running a local server session is so much better with it off from any location. Are you able to add an F10 option to turn it on/off, as Cfrag does in his excellent Expansion campaign, to save having to edit the miz in the mission editor? Jungle Infantry-11-4 Truck Ural 4230T is the one that seems replicate the slideshows each time. I reduced all Rando initialisations to 10 and set Rando11 to 100%, which meant on most missions only Rando11 units were spawned and the slideshow, I think, started each time the Ural 4230T took some damage. That's as far as I got before I realised it was 3am, I want to pursue that further to be sure, but thought I'd mention it now in case you want to have a look at it. I did also get the fps drops when a tt zu 23 took some damage, but I was running on local server and didn't know how to bring up the score list that I used on single missions to get the full unit identifier.
  19. Will do, I've already noted one unit so i'll have a crack at isolating that.
  20. Firstly I'd like to say what a great setup you all have created with ITJ, despite littering the island with burning wreckage I'm having a blast with the Huey & OH-6A. You asked for feedback from users, so here's some that I've encountered running version v2.006. Machine specs : Lenovo Legion, 14th Generation Intel® Core™ i9-14900HX, Memory : 32 GB DDR5-5600MHz, NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4090 Laptop GPU 16GB GDDR6, 2 x 1 TB SSD M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 TLC. Quest Pro using either Oculus PC Link or Oculus Air Link launching DCS via Steam, with Oculus PC app set to 72Hz & max resolution, no other toolkits or Oculus debug settings changed. DCS VR settings all default with FPS set to 75FPS in the main system settings panel. Like all other missions that I've flown on the Marianna's it runs steady at 36FPS until the Huey door gunners cause some damage to an enemy unit, doesn't seem to matter if it's infantry, truck or just a building. Running ITJ as a single mission that first damage causes the FPS to drop to single figures and if I can keep it in the air for 10 to 20 seconds the FPS goes back to around 36 again and will stay there whilst spray nearby units. If I lose that Huey to enemy fire or by landing elsewhere and changing slot then that FPS drop is repeated with the new bird's first damage shots. Running ITJ as a local server that first damage stops the headset and laptop display completely while an hourglass spins for about 30 seconds up to 2 minutes then displays a nice fireball when the mission starts to run again. This happened 3 times on the trot on my last outing as I took a new Huey to rescue my previous pilot. I've saved the DCS log from that if it of any use to you? I've never used the local server option before so possibly there are settings that I need to change as well as selecting run ITJ. Sorry that was so long.
  21. No problem, glad it's working for you now.
  22. It does sound like a VR setting might be the cause. I use two Quest Pro's on two identical laptops, one with Puma X hardware, one with VKB stick & throttle, using either the Oculus link cable or Oculus Air link. I don't use openXR toolkit and haven't changed anything in Oculus pc link or Oculus debug tool apart from setting the resolution slider to 1x3 at 72hz and setting Meta Quest Link as the active OpenXR runtime. The only change to the default DCS VR settings panel is to uncheck Use Controllers. The fwd & bwd controls also work when pause and active pause are on, I've just tried it in 2d using the Hotas hat and the Rshift & Rctl keyboard keys and they work just the same. I am launching DCS from Steam using Launch DCS in Oculus VR mode, I have also tried the Launch DCS in OpenXR mode as well but both seem to work the same. And after such a long waffle from me I have to go out for the afternoon but if there are any other settings I can check let me know.
  23. Not quite what you were looking for but I use VR only and have hotas buttons mapped to Cockpit camera move back, Cockpit camera move forward and F1 Cockpit view for all my aircraft. Having set the VR Camera Reset key on first entering DCS then whichever plane/chopper that I use a quick press of either forward or backwards to get my ideal position for that aircraft, then if I go to external views/F10 Map etc., pressing my F1 cockpit view button returns me to the exact position that I'd set earlier. Plus if I need to access a control without breaking my neck I can use those buttons to move right back to flip side panel switches, then again to go forwards.
  24. I ordered a pair as soon as I found the VA mic problem, but I found them so uncomfortable in my ears that I just couldn't bear using them, So if anyone wants a pair of earbuds for free, only used once, with just a tiny bit of ear wax on them, do let me know
  25. Please don't think that I was in some way knocking the Pro - I think it's a superb headset, great visuals and no mask clamped to my face. The mics on both of my Quest Pros do work, it is the volume setting that is the problem when using Voice attack recognition. I have not found a way to increase their recording sensitivity settings in Windows to more than 50% With my old Valve Index headset it was quite rare to have to repeat a spoken command that wasn't recognised the first time, unless my neighbour started to mow his lawn which dropped the recognition hit rate to unusable. Sounds from the Index's over ear speakers did not prevent recognition even on outside loud afterburner views, The Pro only worked reliably if I turned down the volume in the DCS audio settings to just audible, which is no fun when I could barely hear radio calls, engine & cockpit sounds etc., as the sounds from the Pro's own speakers prevented the mic from passing recognisable phrases to Voice Attack. Using the clip on mic that I bought solves that and I can now use Voice Attack for all commands that I don't want to set on Hotas, until next summer.
