  1. Almost 200 kg. 60 meters radius kill seems totally believable to me
  2. ED said that they will look into it and better supporting DLSS 4 once they have made the transition to the Vulkan API. However, afaik frame generation generally doesn't work in VR.
  3. Very promising!
  4. I think i know the problem. Units in DCS won't engage if their weaponry can't deal damage to the armor of another unit. In your example the back of the stryker has thin armor so the btr engages. I think that if you try front aspect, the btr will estimate that it can't damage the front armor and thus won't engage. In real life they would still engage, as it would damage optics, wheels, antennas, blind the crew, etc... I guess this behaviour will need to be revisited when units have better damage models.
  5. @NineLine @BIGNEWY Can you tell me if this is known issue by ED, as I've reported this almost a year ago? Thanks
  6. Yeah, small bushes and rocks growing out of nowhere is such a disappointing sight when flying helicopters...
  7. Totally agree. I have some IRL training with placing SHORADS and stuff, so I sure hope the AI isn't too stupid about that too. I often cringe hard at air defense layouts in servers and missions...
  8. There is currently a popular post on Floggit that may explain it
  9. I... I can't anymore... ED, I beg you... please...
  10. How will I enjoy it, if all these long hours of overhype cause a catastrophic heart failure?
  11. You know that the F14 emits more heat than the F5, right? heat emission coefficient with military power in DCS: F5: 0.4 F14B: 0.9 Redo the test with an AI using same aircraft and same missile, otherwise you prove nothing.
  12. A bug was introduced in the latest update: George (and Petrovitch) can't see targets if the fog is set to 'auto' in the mission/server. ED confirmed that a fix will be delivered in the next patch.
  13. So much that they burried that Q&A from 15 months ago very, very deep lol. But I heard the answers are coming soon. Maybe for the new year? Right?
  14. A visibility of 10nm during day would definitely be unrealistic.
  15. We need more diversity of ground units in general, and yeah engineer units are particularly lacking. Mobility and counter mobility, combined with artiĺlery, is really important IRL for combined arms operations
  16. I would prefer we go over the dedicated thread for discussing the warhead, this one is for the guidance issue.
  17. *sees profile pictures Hornet pilots hate this trick!
  18. I agree with you here. But just saying to ED "just fix it" won't help. Because if they try to fix it with some bandaid (unrealistic proximity fuse value, magical terminal guidance,...) it will only create other problems and people will complain that now the missiles are unrealistically effective in some situations. That's why finding some article describing a realistic solution is needed imo.
  19. Barrel rolls and periodic sinusoidal maneuvers are a real challenge for missiles IRL. You can find online tons of articles, including very recent ones. dedicated to this problem, because the miss distances can be of several tens of meters, which no realistic value of proximity fuse will solve. The missile has to dynamically adapt its proportional navigation laws to the target maneuvers, which is non trivial.
  20. Yeah, there is definitely the problematic of recognising the maneuver based on target acceleration vectors, and the delay to process that information. I can see how non trivial it could be. Speaking about delay, since you introduced a delay in the servocommands, what is the value of that delay? Reducing it would be the most effective way to deal with high g barrel rolls according to a few papers I found, but it should remain realistic of course
  21. @Маэстро I found an article from 1994, dedicated specifically to this problem of high G barrel roll creating a big miss distance for missiles. Their solution is to introduce a phase lead in the yaw and pitch guidance channels (1.5 radian gives excellent results) imado1994.pdf
  22. Still not solved in 2.10.3948. I up that topic because all AI units having either magical RWR or a borked one seems like a pretty important bug to solve...
  23. The AI can shoot BVR, but the range seems a bit small... 2 aircraft head on, mach 2, 50 000 ft high, missile max range launch option selected, and the Aim-120C is launched at 60-65 km only, and the R-77 a bbit less than that. When the planes are lower and slower, they often engage barely at BVR or even closer. max_launch_distance.trk
  24. I tell you it's soon! Any day now... (seriously ED please gib)
  25. I had a similar problem a few days ago, but better to provide a track for the devs. I'll put one here later for my part.
